Highbank power station
WebFed by the 67km long Rangitata Diversion the Highbank hydro power station operates when water is not required for irrigation. The irrigation race which diverts water from the Rangitata and finishes on the Rakaia was completed in 1945. It was the first major river diversion in New Zealand. This diversion boosted the output of the Coleridge Power Station and was established in 1977. [2]
