WebProject Gigabit seeks to extend networks capable of delivering download speeds of 1000Mbps (1Gbps) to reach at least 85% of UK premises by the end of 2025 and then “ nationwide ” coverage (c.99%) by around 2030 ( here ). The funding released for this will depend upon how the industry responds. Webinterventions, collectively known as the UK Gigabit Programme. As part of this, BDUK is developing a procurement approach for funding contracts to suppliers delivering gigabit-capable wholesale infrastructure. This procurement approach will be a successor to the highly successful Superfast broadband programme.
